Ogun State Student Emerged as Africa’s Champion for Micro:bits Global Challenge as TedPrime Hub’s Codeliners Project Team Distributes Robotic Devices to Ogun Schools

Joseph Adewole, a JSS 1 student of Baptist Boys’ High School has emerged Africa’s Champion at the ongoing Micro:bits Global Challenge in United Kingdom with other 6 continental champions around the world.

Joseph Adewole, who is a member of one of the established Codeliners Clubs in Ogun State secondary schools clinched the winning position throughout African continent on the solution proposed to tackle climate change using Robotics and AI solutions with Micro:bits to advance UN SDGs 3 on Good Health and Well Being with other regional winners from Croatia (Europe), Singapore (Asia and Pacific), United States (North America) and Saudi Arabia (Middle East).

“The Students’ body temperature can be used as an early warning system for proper attention to avoid sickness-related schools misses and to avoid spreading of the sickness within the classrooms. High attendance would increase the access to information provided by the teacher in the classroom” said the Judges in their remarks.

Speaking on the new development, the Codeliners Project Representatives and  Founders of TedPrime Hub, Ayodele Odeogbola and Olalekan Adeeko. “This is yet another milestone on our part in our quest to transform education ecosystem and build competencies of both educators and students in Nigeria on practices that place them on global scale. We appreciate US Consulate for supporting this vision to run the project for two consecutive years. We also acknowledge Ogun State Ministry of Education Science and Technology for the enabling environment for Codeliners Clubs in public and private secondary schools.”

The TedPrime Hub’s Codeliners 2.0 Project activities comprise the distribution of over 200 Micro:bits to private and public secondary schools in Ogun State in January 2019, partnering with Air Bus STEM_METS Foundation to organize Airbus Little Engineer Workshop to schools and hosting of  the first ever Micro:bits Robotic Africa Conference and Exhibition in Ogun State all in 2019 is now hereby extending partnership proposals to other  corporate organizations and interested tech-companies to support the advancement of the organization’s core value in this area – coding and robotics by this organization.

Federal Government School, Odogbolu in Ogun State emerged as the winner in the maiden edition of the Ogun State Codeliners State Exhibition which was held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State in May 2018.
