" This initiative is designed to equip 300 high school Girls between Age 15-18 and 150 Female Science Teachers in Ogun State on soft skills on, Science exploration, Coding, Robotics, Space Technology and Mobile App Development in 10 days (in 2 phases). "

The initiative further creates a community where these girls and Mentors (drawn from industries) meet for mentorship, opportunities in STEM, work placement and internship opportunities over the next 5 years coupled with Girls Summit at the end of the project cycle.

Goals and Objectives:

• To train these girls and female teachers on the proponents of 4th Industrial Revolution and digitally driven economy
• To close the gender gap in STEM establish a community of girls who are STEM Advocates and Champions with prospects and opportunities for the participants on prospects on STEM in United States and host of other global opportunities.
• To equip them with skills on real learning experience on Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics
• To design mentoring community where Mentors who are existing female experts meet these girls and female educators on both professional and academic pursuits.
• To ensure this initiative is replicated in other states hence, this is termed, a pilot phase
• To be a catalyst in advancing UN SDGs on Gender Equality, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and Decent Work Environment as well as Quality Education

Empowering girls to play strategic roles remains one of the top global issues in 4th Industrial revolution the world is heralding to. Several studies have affirmed that while more girls are attending school than before, girls are significantly under-represented in STEM subjects in Nigeria as they reach adolescence due to many factors which skill sets and mentorship are playing the leading roles. The United Nations 2019 report that women still have less than two-third of the economic opportunity that men have. “The jobs of the future will be driven by technology and innovation, and if the gender divide in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is not bridged soon, the overall gender gap is likely to widen”. For instance, women struggled to gain only one new STEM job for every 20 lost, in stark contrast to men, who gain one new STEM job for every four lost.” United Nations 2019.
